Amazon India country head Manish Tiwary has resigned from the e-commerce giant, a company spokesperson told Reuters. This resignation signifies a major shift in the leadership team of one of the largest online marketplaces in India. He has apparently decided to take up a new role at another company.
However, the Reuters report did not confirm if the company has his successor’s name yet. PEr sources, Amazon is not likely to appoint an immediate replacement for Manish Tiwary and the existing team will, for the time being, work closely with Amit Agarwal, Senior Vice President for emerging markets at Amazon.
Manish Tiwary will continue with the company until October to help ensure a smooth transition. He has had a tenure of eight years in the company; he had joined Amazon India in 2016 after his stint at Unilever. He led the consumer business for Amazon India including seller services.
