Amazon India has announced that the company is planning to invest Rs 2,000 crore (over $233 million) in 2025 aimed at enhancing its operations infrastructure, improve associate safety and well-being programmes, and develop new tools and technology for its fulfilment network.
Amazon said that the funds will be used to launch new sites and upgrade existing facilities across its fulfilment, sortation, and delivery network. In a statement, the company said, “This new investment builds on top of Amazon’s investments in creating an operations network that helps the company deliver to all serviceable pin-codes across India.”
Abhinav Singh, VP-Operations, Amazon India and Australia., said, “For over a decade now in India, we have been focused on building the best-in-class logistics infrastructure—designed to deliver with safety, speed, scale, and reliability for our customers across the country. These latest investments reflect our commitment to continually expand and upgrade our operations across our fulfilment, sortation, and delivery network.”
Towards better infrastructure
Amazon’s investment is aimed at boosting its processing capacity, speed up order fulfilment, and improve overall efficiency. These strategic investments, Amazon said, reflect the company’s continued focus on strengthening its operational footprint in India, empowering sellers, enhancing customer convenience and driving growth for local economies.
How employee well-being is prioritised
As part of its broader employee and associate well-being programme, Amazon said that it will continue to invest and expand initiatives aimed at improving the health and financial well-being of employees and associates across the operations network. This includes expanding programmes like:
Ashray: Dedicated rest points for delivery associates, offering air-conditioned seating, water, charging stations, and washroom facilities.
Samridhi: A financial well-being programme focused on financial education and personal finance support for associates and drivers.
Pratidhi: The programme supports children of associates with scholarships.
Sushruta: To address the healthcare needs of truck drivers.
Amazon has also launched a nation-wide initiative to offer free health check-ups to over 80,000 delivery associates and partners through medical camps by the end of 2025.
Amazon India’s technology focus
Amazon is also developing new tools and technologies aimed at improving on-road safety and delivery efficiency. These include systems to monitor driving behaviour, ensure proper helmet usage, and manage route complexity.
