As winter has arrived, people are getting sick due to fever, cold and cough. The common cold is a viral infection that becomes more frequent in winters due to lower temperatures and increased indoor activities, which facilitate virus spread. Dry air can also weaken the nasal lining, making it easier for viruses to infect.
In the first week of December, Google Trends show spike in search for ‘Common Cold’. Between November 30 to December 7, the graphs show multiple highs and lows in search pattern for ‘Common Cold’.
According to the Google Trends data, With respect to Interest by Subregion, people of Sikkim searched for ‘Common Cold’ the most followed by Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa and Uttar Pradesh.
People also searched for related topics like Smallpox-Disease and Pneumonia-Condition. People also searched for related queries like zukam in english, nimos cold tablet, sardi ki tablet, cold total tablet uses in hindi and chest on cold.
In the National Capital, owing to rising pollution levels and smog the number of patients suffering from respiratory issues has increased by nearly 10 to 15 percent. Reportedly, patients with respiratory diseases are being diagnosed with acute exacerbations, due to which the hospitalisation has increased.
As the pollution increases, the number of attacks related to respiratory problems is also multiplying, due to which the requirement for drugs that control Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is also increasing.
