Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana: Delhi launches Ayushman Bharat registration

The Delhi government has launched the registration process for the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) starting April 10, 2025. The scheme, a flagship initiative of the Central Government, provides cashless health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year for hospitalisation and medical expenses.

Delhi’s Finance Minister, Pankaj Kumar Singh, confirmed that the first phase of registration has commenced, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Health Authority (NHA) and the Delhi government’s State Health Agency on April 5. This agreement enables the implementation of PMJAY in the national capital, making Delhi the 36th state/UT to adopt the scheme.

36 Lakh Delhiites to benefit from Rs 10 lakh health cover

Under this plan, beneficiaries above the age of 70, regardless of income, are eligible based on the age listed in their Aadhaar card. Additionally, Asha workers, Anganwadi workers, and families identified as poor (approximately 6.54 lakh households) will also benefit. In total, around 36 lakh residents in Delhi are expected to be covered.

In a significant boost, CM Rekha Gupta announced that the Delhi government will provide an additional Rs 5 lakh health insurance, effectively doubling the coverage to Rs 10 lakh per family. This initiative falls under the broader Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, for which a budget of Rs 2,400 crore has been allocated to upgrade Delhi’s medical infrastructure.

To register for the scheme, individuals can visit pmjay.gov.in and follow a few simple steps:
