EV charging infrastructure development company, Terra Charge has opened a new Research and Development centre in New Town, Kolkata, to expand its range of chargers and explore advanced charging methods and energy management strategies.
The R&D center is backed by Japanese technology and features advanced testing and prototype development equipment. It claims to serve as a hub of research and innovative charging design as it has recently signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to strengthen the state’s EV charging infrastructure. Through this initiative, Terra Charge aims to address the challenges of EV charging infrastructure in India.
The company also expanded into six major Indian cities – Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Gurugram to help address EV charging-related issues across India and cater to the high charging demands for new EV models and heavy-duty electric vehicles entering the Indian market.
CEO of Terra Charge, Akihiro Ueda, said that, “through our endeavor, Terra Charge will be well-positioned to support the Indian government in achieving the goal of boosting EV penetration in the country by 2030.”
By strengthening its R&D capabilities, the company aims to boost its existing range of chargers and develop advanced EV solutions to cater to the evolving needs of the industry, which is projected to grow into a $113.9 billion market by 2029. Through this strategic move, the company aims to strengthen its manufacturing prowess, enhance its chargers’ capabilities, and gain an edge over its competitors. The new establishment marks a significant milestone for the Japanese company, towards its committed goal.
To support India’s drive towards electrification of mobility solutions, Terra Charge also launched Terra Charge Blanket Solution, a comprehensive package tailored to the needs of logistics and last-mile delivery businesses.
