Ride-hailing platform Rapido is gearing up to introduce shared taxi services starting with Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), according to co-founder of Rapido, Aravind Sanka. The company had earlier launched similar shared services for its auto rickshaw rides. Building on this success, the company aims to expand this ‘shared’ offering to airport cabs, Sanka said while speaking at EV & Future of Mobility session at the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2024. The service is expected to go live early next year.

“One vehicle can serve more than two customers. We have already launched auto pooling in Bengaluru, and we’re soon launching an airport pooling service,” said Sanka. “The idea is to make rides from the airport to the city more affordable by allowing passengers to share rides, especially since they’re currently paying thousands of rupees for private trips.”
