The City Gas Distribution (CGD) company, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), partnering with Nawgati, a local fuel aggregator startup, has issued a work order, to run a fleet program to promote CNG adoption during the MGL CNG Mahotsav 2.0. Through this partnership, Nawgati will manage the fleet program, helping drive long-term growth and sustainability of the CNG ecosystem in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad districts.

MGL’s CNG Mahotsav: Benefits of the program

The CNG Mahotsav will provide substantial incentives to fleet operators who buy new commercial CNG vehicles or retrofit existing ones. The program aims to encourage a shift from petrol and diesel to cleaner, more eco-friendly CNG, with rewards based on vehicle type and tonnage. As part of this initiative, Nawgati has introduced a digital platform that makes it easier for fleet operators to pay for refuelling at MGL stations and manage their fleets.

The fleet operators can register online on the MGL fleet platform where they can easily set up accounts, add vehicles and drivers, and manage their refuelling operations at participating MGL CNG stations.

MGL and Nawgati provide a dual payment solution for fleet operators using the MGL Fuel Card, available in both physical and virtual forms. These cards are accepted at MGL CNG stations across Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad, including select BEST bus depots in Ghatkopar and Goregaon. Fleet operators can pay for refuelling by tapping the card at POS machines or digitally through the MGL Connect or Nawgati Fuelling app.

Emphasising Nawgati’s shared commitment to sustainable initiatives, Vaibhav Kaushik, Co-founder and CEO of Nawgati said,  “At Nawgati, we are proud to partner with MGL in operating the fleet program for MGL CNG Mahotsav 2.0. We are deeply invested in helping MGL make transitioning to CNG a seamless experience for eligible fleet operators, and make payments through the MGL fleet card, the MGL Connect app, and the Nawgati app. Moreover, we believe this collaboration will pave the way for a greener future in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad, and in the coming time across the country”.

As a technical partner, Nawgati will support MGL’s closed-loop payment system for fleet owners who have bought or retrofitted CNG vehicles under MGL’s promotion. This will ensure smooth transactions at MGL stations, boosting CNG sales and supporting environmental goals. Additionally, Nawgati has signed an MoU with MGL to integrate the MGL Tez app with the Nawgati Fuelling app. This integration will allow commercial vehicle owners to pre-schedule refueling slots at select BEST bus depots, eliminating wait times.
