The off-road highway and construction equipment industry and allied stakeholders have come together to showcase their prowess at the CII Excon 2023, Bengaluru, which is South Asia’s’ Largest Construction Equipment Trade Fair held from December 12 to 16.
The event is spread over 3.2 lakh sqft of display area and is seeing participation of over 1,000 exhibitors including 100 from overseas countries including – Austria, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States of America. The 5-day exhibition is expected to see over 80,000 business visitors from all over the world.
The underlying trend from the vast majority of participating it seems this year has been on alternate energy, electrification and the upcoming TREM V emission standards. The Indian construction equipment segment is amongst the fastest growing globally and is pegged to touch $25 billion (Rs 208,275 crore) by 2030.
While it is difficult to feature each participant at the event, we have compiled a list of the key exhibitors and their product showcase.
Ashok Leyland
Chennai-headquartered commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland is showcasing its new range of diesel engine and gensets complying to the latest emission standards.
This includes a range of – H4 Engine (diesel) 74hp – 130hp CEV Stage V; H6 Engine (diesel) – 133hp – 225hp; H6 Engine – Hydrogen (H2 ICE), which is said to be the first of its kind for off-highway applications; A6 Engine – Diesel and 40 kVA Genset – CPCB4+.
CASE
CASE Construction Equipment, a leading brand of CNH Industrial, in addition to showcasing its updated range of products to meet new emission norms also marked its debut in two new categories.
It showcased BS (CEV) V Loader Backhoe 770 NX Plus; BS (CEV) V Soil Compactor 1107 NX-PD; Skid Steer Loader – SR 175B; Mini Excavator – CX35D; Mini Excavator – CX15 and the upgraded 770NXe.
Cummins
American powertrain and genset major Cummins showcased it’s range of made-in-India, next-generation fuel-agnostic, sustainable, and robust engine solutions designed for off-highway construction operations.
The product showcased include – M15 diesel engine; L10 diesel engine; B6.7H – Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine; B6.7 and B4.5 its high selling engine range and the Single Module Aftertreatment System.
JK Tyre & Industries
Homegrown tyre maker JK Tyre & Industries, too showcased its latest offering for the construction equipment portfolio ranging from mining tipper, wheel loader, crane, reach stacker to dump trucks.
It launched the all-new JK Tyre 18.00–25 40PR Port Champion Plus specially designed for Reach Stackers at the show.
Kohler Engines
American manufacturing company Kohler Engines debuted its Stage V Compliant KDI Engines targeted towards the construction equipment industry. The company says its innovative DPF technology minimises downtime, positively impacting fuel consumption and oil cleanliness, further enhancing engine performance and efficiency.
The KDI engines are now in series production and readily available to OEM customers for the development of new machines that meet the new Stage V regulations.
Mahindra & Mahindra
Mumbai-based auto major Mahindra & Mahindra launched the Blazo X m-Dura tipper range and the new range of EV5 range of construction equipments at the show.
The showcase included construction equipment like RoadMaster and EarthMaster; Blazo X m-DURA 35 tipper, Blazo X 28 transit mixer, Furio 10 Fuel Bowser with 6KL and Loadking Optimo Tipper truck range.
A new concept LiftMaster compact crane, with loading and hauling capacity was also showcased.
SANY
Chinese construction equipment major SANY, which has long-established presence in the country continues too see India as a key growth market.
A total of 44 machines are being showcased, which includes 15 new models making its India debut. The product range includes electric machines designed for diverse applications such as earthwork, excavation, heavy lifting, deep foundation works, mining operations, road construction, and port equipment.
The new range includes – Electric Wheel Loader SW956E; Electric Reach Stacker SRSC45E3; Electric Large Excavator SY870E; Hybrid Truck Crane STC600T 5-P; Small Excavator SY150C-9S PRO; Medium Excavator SY210C-9 SPARC; Medium Excavator SY365C-9LA; Medium Excavator SY350C-9HD SPARC; Large Excavator SY680C-10 HD; Large Excavator SY1350C-10 HD; Crawler Crane SCS1500A; Crawler Crane SCS600A; Crawler Crane SCS800A and Motor Grader SMG200 AWD.
Scania
Swedish commercial vehicle major Scania which has been focussing on niche applications for its products in India unveiled the G500 8×4 Super Heavy Tipper at the show.
The G500 Super boasts of a low-emission, biodiesel/FAME-compatible engine in the 500-horsepower range.
Tata Motors
Mumbai-headquartered commercial vehicle major Tata Motors showcased a range of its solutions ranging from trucks to axles and components.
The key products showcased include Tata Prima E.28K, its e-mobility concept tipper for construction sector; Tata Prima 2830.TK VX and Tata Signa 3530.TK VX tipper range; Tata Motors Gensets; Tata Motors Industrial Engines; Tata Motors Live Axles and Trailer Axles and Components.
Volvo CE
Swedish off-road highway and construction equipment maker, Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) introduced EC500 Electric, which it claims is India’s first grid-connected electric excavator in the 50-tonne class. Other key products displayed include L120 Electric Wheel Loader; compact EC55 electric; India-developed and designed electric compactors, DD40 and PT220.
