Kinectic Green is all charged up and is planning a product offensive. After the launch of the e-Luna earlier this year, its now set its sight on the electric scooter space. The company has already started developing an electric scooter and aims to launch it in 18 months. This will be a direct competition for likes of Ola, electric Chetak by Bajaj and TVS iQube. That’s not all. Kinetic Green also plans to unveil an electric L5 passenger three-wheeler and golf cars designed in collaboration with Lamborghini is set to hit the markets in less than a year.

Speaking to Financial Express recently after a round of successful fundraising, Sulajja Firodia Motwani, CEO and Co-founder, Kinetic Green outlined the Kinetic Green vision going forward, “We will use the funds raised for manufacturing, EV R&D and product development and for aggressive marketing and brand investments. We are looking at the taking anchor-product, the e-Luna to the masses and aggressively market it with the objective to convince the customer to transition from ICE to EV. It is not just about marketing our products but building a broader awareness across the country.”

Electric Scooter in 18 months

The E-Luna sales have picked up in the B2C segment and amongst gig workers, according to Motwani. She highlighted that the e-Luna is suitable for the select urban sectors and the rural areas and they are looking to expand “from the current level of around 350-400 dealers to about 800 dealers in the next 12 months. So a massive expansion for B2C and a specialised setup for B2B is on the cards. Selling 100,000 Luna is our dream but the target will be taken in 75,000 Luna in the next 12 months.”

But Kinetic Green’s plans for the electric two-wheeler space is not just limited to e-Luna. They are also working on a family scooter and “expect around 18 months’ time to bring the vehicle to the market,” shared the Kinetic Green chief. She explained that the “objective would be to build our e-scooter as a very good alternative to the current ICE scooters. Customers should have similar performance, under-seat storage, range that ensures that daily requirement of 80 to 100 km range is met. I think the price is very important for people to transition as long as the product also meets the requirements. It would be a 100% made in India and the price target will be close to Rs 1 lakh.” She indicated that it will be direct competition to the likes of Ola, Electric Chetak and TVS iQube.

Electric L5 passenger vehicle on the cards this year

The electric three-wheeler market is another core focus area for Kinetic Green. After the successful launch of the L5 electric three-wheeler for cargo, the target is for L5 passenger vehicle. Motwani eleborated that L5 is the high-speed autos which are more useful for point to home travel and are more popular in the South and the West and in the big cities. Initially there was a struggle and the sales took time to pick up as the CNG fuel is very foordable. But he is hopeful that with battery prices falling, the traction in this section will also go up, “We are building on our EV product portfolio. One very big focus for us we’re also launching an L5 passenger vehicle this year. Customers need about 120-150 km range and high speed. As the battery prices are falling, the L3 passenger carriers are also becoming quite attractive and the number is growing so that’s a product we would be developing.”

Golf cart in association with Lamborghini to hit markets in 6-8 months

But that’s not all. Kinetic Green is keen on expanding the market share for Golf Carts too and also grab a share of the international pie too. Motwani added that the Golf Cart “will be an innovative aspirational offering given the Lamborghini connection and it will be brought to the market with a global focus. With this fundraise behind us, we will be focusing on bringing the golf carts to the market. Over the next 12 months, we will start a new initiative of having the entire golf cart business based out of the Middle East. We are in discussion with a few players to start the entire manufacturing as well as the global business from Middle East. This is close to Europe and is relatively closer to the US too. Expect some announcement in next 6 to 9 months,” she concluded on an optimistic note. She highlighted how that business is moving from incubation into manufacturing phase and would also have a global angle.
