In a cabinet briefing by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, on Thursday, he stated that under the India AI mission, Rs 10,372 crore of investment, for five years, has been allocated to drive innovations under artificial intelligence. Goyal also mentioned that this development will help in the adoption of AI at a larger scale and help in growing talent of youth of India, with many areas already being covered. “We will create a marketplace for AI in India to help start-up community, academia, and more than 10,000 GPUs to establish supercomputing capacity, to be made available for various stakeholders. 2-3 India AI Innovation centres will be opened based on large language models (LLMs),” Goyal mentioned.
Moreover, a unified data platform will established as a one-stop solution and non-personal data will be provided to start-ups. Reportedly, India AI application development will be created to solve problems to help in the growth of the country, keeping in mind the country’s constant developments. Another area is understood to be skill development and in order to ensure education, UG courses will be created besides the creation of foundational courses for students in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. “We have created the fund to ensure early-stage start-ups, especially in the space of deep-tech, are able to receive funds. Lastly, the idea is to take AI to the common man in India,” Goyal concluded.
