Women in Tech Global, an international organisation for empowering and advancing women in technology, has announced the launch of its India chapter at the French Embassy in New Delhi.
According to an official release, launched in alignment with the World Economic Forum, Women in Tech aims to empower five million women and girls by 2030, through mentorship programs and skill-building initiatives for technology-related careers. Reportedly, the organisation also announced its collaboration with Girls4Girls (G4G), a global project originating from Harvard University, to introduce a mentoring initiative in India tailored to support young women and girls for pursuing their leadership potential. From what it’s understood, Women In Tech India would support women in Northeast India, offering them access to digital resources beneficial for their daily lives and small businesses.
“I believe the launch of the India chapter marks a pivotal moment in Women in Tech Global’s collective effort of empowering five million women and girls in STEAM by 2030, while also tailoring our local activation outreach and programs to address India pertinent issues. In pursuance of this, we would want girls and women to traverse the growth path in tech, be it in academia, careers, and into decision-making roles,” Radhika Iyengar, country head, Women in Tech India, said.
