According to Cointelegraph, Meta, parent company, Facebook and Instagram, plans to combat the misuse of generative artificial intelligence (AI). This is expected to ensure the integrity of the electoral process on its platforms ahead of the 2024 European Parliament elections in June.
With insights from a blog on February 25, 2024, the principles behind the platform’s “Community Standards” and “Ad Standards” will also apply to AI-generated content, Meta’s Marco Pancini, head, EU Affairs, explained. Furthermore, “AI-generated content is also eligible to be reviewed and rated by our independent fact-checking partners,” Panicni explained, adding that one of the ratings can show if the content is “altered, faked, manipulated or transformed audio, video, or photos.”
Meta is also expected to introduce new features to label AI-generated content created by Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, Adobe, Midjourney and Shutterstock, among others, added Cointelegraph.
It is believed that Meta plans to add a feature that can disclose when they have shared an AI-generated video or audio in order for it to be flagged and labeled. Furthermore, it will also introduce penalties for failing to do so, concluded Cointelegraph.
