Iliad, a French telecommunications group, announced on September 26, 2023, that it plans to invest millions of euros to build up the French artificial intelligence (AI) industry, stated Cointelegraph.
Sources revealed that Iliad has already invested 100 million euros ($106 million) in creating an “excellence lab” to be built in Paris dedicated to AI research. As per the announcement, a team of researchers are expected to be set up and Xavier Niel, chairman, Iliad, will head it.
It is believed that “To have a cloud in the AI market, you need computing power. To have computing power, you need supercomputers. And to have supercomputers, you need to invest. To invest massively,” Niel explained.
