Two terrorists have been neutralised in the ongoing operation at Khandara in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Wednesday, the Indian Army reported on Wednesday.

“OP – KHANDARA Two Terrorists Neutralised in the Ongoing Operation at Khandara #Kathua by Troops of Rising Star Corps. Operations in progress,” stated the Indian Army’s Rising Star Corps. on X (formerly known as Twitter).

An operation to neutralise terrorists is currently underway in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district.

The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs, with contact established between security forces and terrorists near the Kathua-Basantgarh border, according to the Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Jammu. The situation remains active, and the operation is ongoing.

This development follows a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Jammu border earlier today. Jammu and Kashmir is set to hold elections in three phases starting on September 18, with results expected on October 8.

In a related incident, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the upper reaches of Basantgarh in Udhampur district. The gunfight erupted when troops from the Army’s First Para unit, along with local police, conducted a search operation in the Khandara Top area after receiving information about the presence of terrorists.

The terrorists, who were hiding in the area, opened fire on the search teams around 12:50 p.m., prompting retaliation from the security forces. Reinforcements have been deployed to the forested area as efforts continue to neutralise the terrorists, officials confirmed.
