Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strategic vision for port-led development, as outlined in the Sagarmala programme, took center stage in the 75th Republic Day tableau presented by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways on Friday. The central focus of the tableau highlighted the success of port efficiency and capacity augmentation achieved through Sagarmala initiatives. The programme has led to a doubling of capacity at major ports, significantly enhancing cargo handling efficiency.

Port-Led Industrialization for Economic Growth

Under the “Amrit Kaal Vision 2047,” the tableau underscored the port-led industrialization initiative. This ambitious vision aimed to develop industrial clusters around ports, fostering economic growth and reducing overall logistic costs in line with the ministry’s strategic goals.

Technological Advancements and Turn-around Time

The tableau underscored the adoption of new technology and modernization in Indian ports, resulting in a turn-around time on par with global standards. From a few days a few years ago, the turn-around time now stands at an impressive 0.9 days.

Development of Lighthouses and Cruise Tourism

The rear portion of the tableau shed light on the ministry’s initiatives towards the development of lighthouses and cruise tourism, aligning with the Swadesh Darshan scheme. These efforts aim to enhance the tourism potential of coastal areas.
