A contingent comprising 120 personnel from the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force departed for Kazakhstan to participate in the 7th edition of the Joint Military ‘Exercise KAZIND-2023.’
The exercise is scheduled to unfold in Otar, Kazakhstan, spanning from October 30 to November 11, 2023. This deployment underscores the growing collaboration between the armed forces of India and Kazakhstan, with a focus on bolstering their joint military capabilities.
The Indian Army contingent, consisting of 90 personnel led by a Battalion from the DOGRA Regiment, will collaborate with their counterparts from the Regional Command South of the Kazakh Ground Forces. Additionally, 30 personnel from the Indian Air Force will join in this edition of the exercise, highlighting the growing synergy between the Indian armed forces.
This annual exercise, initially known as ‘Exercise PRABAL DOSTYK’ since its inception in 2016, has evolved into a company-level exercise and was renamed ‘Exercise KAZIND’ after its second edition. This year marks a significant development as it has been upgraded to a Bi-service Exercise by incorporating the Air Force component.
The primary focus of ‘Exercise KAZIND-2023’ is to enhance the capabilities of both sides in counter-terrorism operations within a sub-conventional environment under the purview of United Nations mandates. The participating contingents will engage in joint training exercises, encompassing various tactical maneuvers, such as Raids, Search and Destroy Operations, Small Team Insertion and Extraction Operations, and Counter Unmanned Aerial System Operations.
This exercise aims to facilitate mutual understanding of each other’s tactics, battle drills, and procedures, a crucial requirement when operating under United Nations directives. The collaborative training will equip the contingents with the essential skills and coordination necessary for joint military operations in Semi-Urban and Urban environments.
‘Exercise KAZIND-2023’ offers a valuable opportunity for both sides to exchange knowledge and experiences, further enhancing their operational efficiency. This exercise not only strengthens the bonds between the two nations but also underscores their commitment to maintaining regional and global peace through joint military training and cooperation.
