In a joint mission of Indian Coast Guard, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Gujarat Police and NCB 80 kgs of Narcotics worth 480 Cr has been seized in a Pakistani Boat sailing at Arabian Sea near Porbandar.
The overnight operation based on intelligence bureau inputs apprehended a Pakistani Boat with 06 crew and narcotics onboard during intervening nights of 11 & 12 Mar. The Boat was apprehended about 350 Km from Porbandar into Arabian Sea in a sea-air coordinated operation involving ICG ships and Dornier Aircraft.
The coordinated efforts of ICG, NCB, and ATS Gujarat resulted in the strategic positioning of ships in the Arabian Sea. ICG also assigned its Dornier aircraft with scanning and locating the boat in possible locations. After an extensive search of the region, the ICG Ships, along with NCB and ATS Gujarat teams, arrived at the scene and positively recognized the boat, which was moving strangely in the dark. When confronted by ICG ships, the boat began evasive maneuvering, but was successfully pursued and forced to stop. The boarding team quickly boarded the ship for preliminary inspections and investigations to Porbandar.
ICG stated on X, “A boat with six crew members and around 80 kgs of contraband worth ₹480 Cr is being transported to the nearest port for further joint search and investigation.”
Recently, FE online reported the Indian Navy joint operation combating smuggling of illicit drugs, In the operation 3,300 kg of drugs was seized. The operation was named the biggest of its kind, The product was labeled to be of Pakistan, having the market value of estimated 2,000Cr.
ICG and Indian Navy often do such operations and apprehend illicit drugs from Pakistani boats, many similar incidents have been reported so far.
Recently, FE Online reported on an Indian Navy combined operation to combat drug smuggling. During the operation, 3,300 kg of the drug were seized. The operation was designated the largest of its type and labeled as a Pakistani product with a market worth of over 2,000 crore.
ICG and Indian Navy frequently conduct such operations and captivate illicit drugs from Pakistani boats; numerous similar events have been reported thus far. This was the tenth similar operation by ICG in 3 years, seizing 517 Kg Narcotics worth Rs 3135 Crores.
