In a groundbreaking collaboration, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), a frontrunner in aerospace and defense solutions in India, joined forces with Satellogic Inc. a leader in sub-metre resolution Earth Observation (EO) data collection.

Together, they announced the successful deployment of the TSAT-1A satellite into space, aboard the Bandwagon-1 mission. The huge event unfolded with SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket lifting off from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA, methodically assembled at TASL’s cutting-edge Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) plant located in its Vemagal facility in Karnataka, marks a significant achievement in India’s space events.

This success stems from a strategic collaboration inked between TASL and Satellogic in November 2023. Leveraging Satellogic’s unparalleled expertise in Earth Observation satellite technology and TASL’s proficiency in complex system integration, TSAT-1A emerges as a testament to India’s prowess in space innovation.

Sukaran Singh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of TASL, expressed his elation, stating, “This milestone underscores TASL’s unwavering dedication to advancing the space sector. Our partnership with Satellogic has empowered us to deliver a state-of-the-art, sub-metre optical satellite, assembled and tested entirely in India, and subsequently launched into orbit by SpaceX. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the various Indian Government authorities for their invaluable support in securing the necessary permissions.”

TSAT-1A is poised to revolutionize Earth observation capabilities, offering high-resolution optical satellite images with enhanced collection capacity, dynamic range, and low-latency delivery. Its multispectral and hyper spectral capabilities promise to deliver unparalleled insights into our planet’s dynamics.

Emiliano Kargieman, CEO at Satellogic, commended the seamless collaboration between the two teams, remarking, “Congratulations to both teams for their exemplary cooperation in bringing TSAT-1A to fruition and ready for launch. This achievement underscores the adaptability of Satellogic’s Space Systems program, providing governments and enterprises with the flexibility to customize a proven satellite model to meet their unique requirements and reach orbit within a favorable timeframe.”
