For strengthening surveillance along the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh and Line of Control (LoC), the Ministry of Defence has placed an order for 5G capable drones and essential accessories from IG Drones, a drone tech company.
The selected drones have industry-first features and are enabled with 5G capability and have advanced features and exceptional performance, functioning effectively in extreme temperatures and high altitudes. According to the company statement, the drone is capable of vertical take-off and landing and can be effectively used in defence and medical applications.
With the advent of 5G services from Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), these drones now boast enhanced precision control capabilities, allowing them to be remotely operated from a command center, eliminating the need for on-site presence. And, by providing enhanced surveillance capabilities, these drones act as a crucial asset for defence forces, strengthening operational efficiency at the borders.
“These drones can be deployed from any terrain without requiring a traditional runway and carry a 10 kg payload, with an endurance of around five hours. Moreover, they are IP67 rated for durability and can be controlled via a combination of NavIC + GPS navigational satellites, ensuring connectivity remains intact even in the upper range of 50 to 60 in case of failsafe activation,” the statement added.
Expressing pride and enthusiasm in contributing to national security through advanced drone technology, Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, Founder & CEO, IG Drones, said: “It is a great moment for us to provide cutting-edge drone technology to our defence forces for high-quality surveillance and other operations in tough terrains. We have thoroughly inspected and tested our Jaga drones to meet much demanding defence requirements. Our team remains committed to such endeavours and innovation to contribute to national security.”
Previously, IG Drones has secured several surveying projects using its latest technology. It has recently secured a contract to survey the Uttarakhand Metro Rail Project, the country’s inaugural PRT corridor under the Neo Metro System.
Last year, the company had also bagged the contract for 2 / 2 Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project Surveying. It has forged strategic partnerships with multiple state governments, over 100 Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and leading Multinational Corporations (MNCs) for a range of drone-related services.
