The Indian Army is currently conducting a distinctive Women Military Officers Course tailored for ASEAN countries. This initiative, which takes place at the Centre for United Nations Peacekeeping (CUNPK) in New Delhi, is rooted in collaborative training under the United Nations (UN) framework, aligning with recent discussions within the ADMM Plus.
Since 2017, the ADMM Plus has been an annual forum facilitating dialogue and cooperation among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its partner countries. The current course underscores India’s commitment to ASEAN nations and its dedication to enduring peacekeeping efforts while emphasizing gender equality.
According to sources in military establishments, “the main goal of this course is to make female officers better leaders, help them think strategically, and be more effective in their jobs. It provides a platform for cross-cultural interaction and mutual professional development. Participants engage in dynamic workshops, tactical simulations, and expert lectures.”
Also, “A big part of this course is learning from India’s experience in helping the United Nations keep the peace around the world. CUNPK, globally renowned for its training and deployment of peacekeepers across various UN missions, oversees the program. Participants are privileged to receive demonstrations of UN peacekeeping drills, gaining valuable insights into India’s rigorous standards in international peace missions,” sources added.
Moreover, participants gain exposure to state-of-the-art “Made In India” vehicles and equipment, aligned with the Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative. These resources are specifically designed for utilization in United Nations Missions worldwide.
Beyond the academic and tactical aspects, the program offers participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in India’s rich cultural heritage. They engage in organized yoga sessions, embark on heritage tours of Delhi and Agra, and are introduced to equipment set to be deployed in upcoming UN missions, proudly bearing the “Made in India” label.
“This special training for women military officers from ASEAN countries, held in New Delhi at CUNPK, shows how much India cares about peace and treating everyone fairly. It aims to elevate the leadership and operational capacities of female officers while fostering international cooperation,” said sources quoted above.
This unique initiative symbolizes India’s dedication to ASEAN nations and showcases its role in UN peacekeeping missions, coupled with its commitment to self-reliance and cultural exchange. With these combined efforts, the course stands as a testament to India’s leadership in promoting peace and equality on the global stage.
