The Appointment Committee of the government has reappointed former IPS officer Ajit Doval as the National Security Adviser (NSA) on Thursday. The tenure of his appointment will be co-terminus with the term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi or until further orders.

As per the order issued by the Personnel Ministry, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Ajit Doval, IPS (Retired) as National Security Adviser with effect from 10.06.2024. His appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”

During his term, Doval will hold the rank of Cabinet Minister in the Table of Precedence. The terms and conditions of his appointment will be announced separately.

Notedly, Dovel is the longest-running NSA with his first 5-year term in 2014. Following his reappointment in 2019 and now.
