Adani Defence & Aerospace has achieved a significant milestone in India’s defence sector with the inauguration of two groundbreaking facilities for manufacturing ammunition and missiles. These facilities are the first of their kind in India’s private sector, unveiled by Adani Defence & Aerospace, a leading private defence manufacturer. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, along with other dignitaries from the Ministry of Defence and Uttar Pradesh Government.

Spread over 500 acres, the Kanpur facility is set to be South Asia’s largest integrated ammunition manufacturing complex, producing a wide range of ammunition for armed forces, paramilitary forces, and police. It has already commenced production, starting with 150 million rounds, which accounts for 25% of India’s annual requirement.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed pride in Uttar Pradesh’s industrial growth, citing this facility as a testament to the state’s commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. 

Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace,  emphasizing the company’s commitment to self-reliance said, “With a planned investment of over Rs. 3,000 Crores, its impact extends far beyond the defence sector. It will create over 4,000 jobs, with five times the multiplier effect on MSMEs and the local ecosystem benefiting from it indirectly.”

Gen Manoj Pande AVSM VSM SM ADC, Chief of Army Staff, highlighted the importance of self-reliance in ammunition and missiles, especially in light of recent geopolitical events. He praised Adani Defence’s efforts to indigenize critical technologies, which build confidence in the country’s ability to depend on domestic private industries for strategic military supplies.

Adani Defence & Aerospace, is not only focused on defence products but also on developing capabilities in unmanned systems , counter-drone technologies, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance technologies, and cyber defence. The company claims to be committed towards inclusivity and sustainability and aims to foster growth while preserving the environment for future generations.

Speaking on the occasion, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Adani Defence & Aerospace has made the largest investment in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor, which will play a crucial role in developing a vibrant defence ecosystem. It is encouraging to see the commencement of operations within 18 months of allocating land.”

Adding further he said, “It will be a proud moment when ammunition and missiles produced in these facilities will help in securing the nation.” 

As an industry 4.0 facility, the complex utilizes artificial intelligence and data analytics to ensure the highest standards of quality and reliability.
