Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Devdatta Potnis, CEO, Animeta, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
In my leisure moments when I am not working, I like immersing myself in quality time with my wife and children. I like to interact with my kids, it helps me understand today’s world and the pulse of time through a young mind’s perspective. I also devote time for some meditation and training which energises me to get through the daily grind of life’s challenges.
How do you spend your weekend?
Weekends again are for some quality me time and time spent with my family at home, with occasional visits to my parents and in-laws. I also love watching movies and go for a long drive. Basically renew and enrich myself indulging in activities that brings joy.
What are your favourite gadgets?
While not inherently drawn to gadgets but my most favourite is my Bluetooth earphones. I love music and need to listen to it all the time. And these earphones allow me to enjoy music peacefully without encroaching on the personal space of others.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
If given the opportunity to choose an alternate career, it would be writing. I love writing and thats a hobby I have inculcated over the years. Crafting content for various platforms, creating empowering narratives with balanced gender dynamics, especially in the realms of OTT and cinema would be my chosen path. The exploration of human stories and emotions would be the essence of my work and the genre I would explore.
Which is your favourite vacation spot?
When it comes to vacation preferences, I love France. It has the most beautiful weather along with scenic beauty and delightful wines. Paris holds a special place but it’s not accessible all the time. So the charm of a hometown visit to Pune which is close to Mumbai is like a mini vacation that I can indulge frequently. It’s filled with nostalgic reunions with old friends and also my parents along with all the eateries that I have grown up eating various cuisines. So that’s an important vacation spot, my birth place.
A TV show, a movie and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching?
I am an avid Hindi cinema connoisseur in my own opinion. Too many films to keep a count but filmmakers such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Imtiaz Ali and Yash Chopra top the list. I loved Devdas, Tamasha, Love Aaj Kal and Veer Zaara to name a few. I would also like to add Nancy Meyer to that list of filmmakers. Films featuring talents including Madhuri Dixit, Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts I can keep watching again and again. Television indulgences include perennial favourites like “Friends” and “The Big Bang Theory,” that I unwind to a happy state. Currently I am also hooked on to watching Billions. Additionally, ad campaigns would be the iconic Fevicol campaign that we saw while growing up. It stands out as noteworthy that got me interested in ad campaigns.
