ASUS India has launched the third edition of its #DiscardResponsibly campaign to address the growing issue of e-waste in the country, coinciding with International E-Waste Day. This initiative aims to raise awareness and provide customers with options to responsibly dispose of their electronic waste. The campaign highlights the importance of collaboration between businesses and consumers in tackling e-waste challenges.
According to a report by the United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD), India experienced a 163% increase in e-waste production from 2010 to 2022. The report warns that without timely intervention, e-waste could escalate to a situation similar to that of plastic waste. In response, ASUS India has established a microsite and a helpline number to guide customers on proper e-waste disposal methods and facilitate collection at home or office.
“The journey towards sustainability isn’t a gradual progression but a bold transformation and at ASUS we understand that the decisions we take today, together with every practice we embrace are powerful steps in this very direction. Every day we are actively taking action to deliver the best quality products while at the same time reducing the environmental impact. This includes creating the best possible products to help consumers and the planet through a unique amalgamation of innovation, design and sustainability. Aligning with our vision of achieving a global recycling rate of 20% for ASUS products, we are delighted to announce the third edition of our #DiscardResponsibly campaign,” Eric Ou, Country Head of ASUS India, said.
The #DiscardResponsibly campaign will be supported by an on-ground awareness initiative at over 50 ASUS stores across the country. This effort aims to educate consumers on the impact of e-waste and the importance of responsible disposal.
In addition to this campaign, ASUS India has introduced the ASUS Select Store, which features refurbished ASUS products at discounted prices, accompanied by a one-year warranty. This initiative further supports the company’s commitment to promoting a circular economy in India.
