JP Morgan Chase Bank India announced Wednesday that it has appointed Pranav Chawda as its chief executive officer. The appointment has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India.

Chawda joined J P Morgan in 2019 and has been leading the commercial banking division. In his new role, he will also oversee the corporate banking sector, reflecting the entity’s strategy to integrate its commercial and corporate banking operations in India.

“As CEO of our banking entity, Pranav’s experience and deep understanding of the local market will enable him to play a pivotal role in driving corporate banking business forward,” said Kaustubh Kulkarni, J P Morgan’s senior country officer and vice-chairman for Asia Pacific. He noted that the bank aims to capitalise on the opportunities presented by the Indian market.

Before this appointment, Chawda served as head of client banking and specialised industries, focusing on midsized companies headquartered in India.
