Banks in parts of India are closed today, on June 27, 2025, on the occasion of Jaganath Rath Yatra, a major festival celebrated in Odisha and Manipur. The closure of the bank has been notified under the Negotiable Instruments Act by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), will be effective in public as well in private sectors in these two states. As a result, customers won’t be able to avail of in-person services like cheque processing, cash transactions. However, online banking services, UPI, ATM, and mobile banking apps will continue to work for customers across the regions.

Banks closed on Friday in THESE states 

In addition to today’s Rath Yatra holiday, banks in these regions will also be closed on Saturday, June 28, because of the fourth Saturday of the month, and again on Sunday, June 9, due to the usual weekend holiday. This will result in a three-day halt in the banking operations for customers who rely on physical branches in Manipur and Odisha. Those who are planning in-person transactions will need to ensure that they plan out their important banking tasks after the break on Monday, as regular services will resume from next week.

Banks in Mizoram to be shut on June 30

Apart from the weekend holiday, banks will remain shut on Monday, June 30, on the occasion of Remna Ni. On this day, the anniversary of the signing of the Mizoram Peace  Accord is observed. This brings the total number of banking holidays in Mizoram to four days that will begin from Saturday and will continue till Monday. Customers in the affected states are advised to plan their banking tasks accordingly to avoid disruptions.

A three-day banking holiday begins this weekend from June 28 to June 30 in many areas because of the fourth Saturday, Sunday, and Remna Ni in Mizoram.
