IndiGo flight status today: As many as 17 IndiGo flights were cancelled on Wednesday across the Goa and Ahmedabad airports as the IndiGo fiasco enters its ninth day. This comes even as IndiGo claimed that it has “reinstated” its operations across the network and planned to operate around 1,900 flights.

According to a report by news agency ANI, 10 departing flights from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, were cancelled. Goa International Airport has also released a list of flights which will not fly today. The list mentions flights affected for seven routes.

At Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, IndiGo passengers continue to be impacted amid flight disruptions and cancellations, ANI reported.

IndiGo to operate 1,900 flights today

In a press statement issued yesterday evening, IndiGo said that the operations are “normalised”.

“Today [December 9], we are operating more than 1800 flights, connecting all 138 stations in our network, and plan to fly nearly 1900 flights tomorrow. We have optimised our operations, and our on-time performance is also back to normal levels,” the statement read.

It added that customers, impacted by the unprecedented flight cancellations, can claim full refunds through its website. It also said that most of the baggage at the airport had been returned, and the remaining would be delivered at the earliest.

Govt slashed IndiGo flight schedule by 10%

The government has directed IndiGo to cut down its flight schedule by 10 per cent, exactly double of what the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had previously ordered.  This, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) said, will help IndiGo to stabilise its operations.

“The Ministry considers it necessary to curtail the overall IndiGo routes, which will help in stabilising the airline’s operations and lead to reduced cancellations. A curtailment of 10% has been ordered. While abiding by it, IndiGo will continue to cover all its destinations as before,” Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said on X (formerly Twitter).

He added that the airline messed up the internal rostering, which impacted the operations. “During the last week, many passengers faced severe inconvenience due to IndiGo’s internal mismanagement of crew rosters, flight schedules and inadequate communication. While the enquiry and necessary actions are underway, another meeting with IndiGo’s top management was held to review the stabilisation measures,” he added.

Naidu further said, “Today again, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers was summoned to the Ministry to provide an update. He confirmed that 100% of the refunds for flights affected till 6th December have been completed. A strict instruction to expedite the completion of the remaining refunds and baggage handover was given.”

Naidu, in an interview with TOI, not only apologised for the IndiGo fiasco that has impacted a colossal number of passengers but also vowed strict action against the airline so that history doesn’t repeat itself.

The minister also said he would remove IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers if required. “If it comes to that, definitely I will do it. I will charge them with all the penalties that are there. Definitely, I will look into all of those aspects…,” TOI quoted the minister as saying.
