In the rapidly evolving landscape of the aviation industry, the concept of inclusive air travel has emerged as a crucial imperative, underscoring the significance of accessibility and comfort for all passengers, regardless of physical or cognitive abilities. This paradigm shift represents a progressive move towards a more equitable and compassionate approach to air travel.
In line with this commitment, Akasa Air’s initiative of introducing a safety manual and in-flight dining menu in Braille has been winning hearts. This innovative approach allows passengers with visual impairments to independently understand safety instructions and make meal selections, significantly enhancing their overall travel experience.
In-flight Safety Manual in Braille
In a groundbreaking move, Akasa Air had in January 2023 introduced its in-flight safety manual in Braille for individuals with visual impairment. This Braille safety manual provides comprehensive safety instructions in both English and Hindi. Passengers can request this manual on board, and gain access to detailed information on seatbelt operation, emergency exit locations, life jacket positions, and tactile diagrams to orient them within the aircraft. This initiative had marked a significant step towards creating a safer and more accessible air travel environment.
Braille Menu Cards on Café Akasa
Building on its commitment to inclusivity, Akasa Air further unveiled Braille menu cards for its in-flight dining service, Café Akasa, in October 2023. These thoughtfully designed cards offer a range of options, including meal choices, snacks, and beverages, empowering visually impaired passengers to independently peruse and make dining selections during the flight.
