A senior Air India official announced on Monday that a comprehensive enterprise assessment of all systems has been completed, and the integration process is currently in progress as part of the upcoming merger of Vistara with Air India. Vistara, a joint venture between Tatas and Singapore Airlines, is set to be merged with Air India in November, marking a significant milestone in the aviation industry.

The merger between Vistara and Air India, two prominent full-service carriers, was announced in November 2022, and the process has been advancing steadily since then. Murali Karthik, VP & Head of Enterprise IT at Air India, underlined the importance of a data-driven decision-making process and a highly integrated system to ensure a seamless transition and optimal operational efficiency during the merger.

Speaking at a session during the CAPA India Digital Aviation Summit held in the national capital, Karthik highlighted that the enterprise assessment of all systems has been completed comprehensively in preparation for the merger. This meticulous approach aims to address potential challenges and streamline the integration of Vistara and Air India, ensuring a unified and efficient operational structure.

Furthermore, at the same session, Prasanna Subramanian, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of regional carrier FLY91, shared insights into their strategic initiatives. Subramanian mentioned that FLY91 is actively constructing the complete architecture for digital systems essential for enhancing operational capabilities and customer experience. Emphasizing the importance of scaling up systems and leveraging data effectively, FLY91 is focused on developing a robust technological infrastructure to support its operations.

FLY91, based in Goa, commenced operations earlier this year and has been swiftly expanding its presence in the aviation sector. As the aviation industry evolves and consolidates, mergers such as the one between Vistara and Air India underscore the need for careful planning, advanced technological solutions, and seamless integration processes to ensure the success of these strategic ventures.

The ongoing efforts to consolidate Vistara and Air India reflect a significant synergy in the aviation landscape, promising enhanced services, improved operational efficiencies, and a stronger competitive position in the market. As the integration progresses, stakeholders will be closely monitoring the developments and anticipating the positive outcomes that this merger is poised to deliver for both airlines and the overall aviation industry.
