A United Airlines Boeing jet experienced the loss of a main landing gear wheel during takeoff from Los Angeles on Monday (July 8). Despite this incident, Flight 1001 safely landed in Denver, as confirmed by the airline.

There were no injuries reported among the 174 passengers and seven crew members on board or on the ground, according to United’s statement.

“The wheel has been recovered in Los Angeles, and we are currently investigating the cause of this occurrence,” the airline’s statement noted.

This incident follows another event on March 7, when a United Boeing B777-200 lost a tire shortly after departing from San Francisco. The tire landed in an airport employee parking lot, without causing injuries.
