Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday said that this year Uttar Pradesh will get the “gift” of five new airports. He said that the year has brought a new dawn for the aviation sector in the state.
“The year 2024 has brought a new dawn for the aviation sector of Uttar Pradesh. Soon the state is going to get the gift of 5 new airports,” said Scindia.
These new airports will be constructed in Aligarh, Azamgarh, Shravasti, Chitrakoot and Moradabad.
Going back to the year 2014, when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) first came to power in the country, he said, “In 2014 only six airports were operational in Uttar Pradesh”.
“Today, including Ayodhya, 10 airports are operational,” the minister added during a press conference.
In Jewar city of the state, Jewar International Airport (also known as Noida International Airport) will be ready by the end of this year, stressed the Union Minister for Civil Aviation.
About Jewar International Airport
Situated in the newly planned Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) city, Jewar International Airport will serve the National Capital Region (NCR).
Once operational, the airport will be an alternative to Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi. It will relieve IGI’s high and rising traffic load. Noida International Airport is planned to be India’s and Asia’s largest airport.
