Lucknow Airport experienced heightened activity on Saturday (August 17) after a shipment of cancer medications triggered a radioactive material alarm. Airport officials quickly responded to the alarm and informed the relevant authorities.
According to an official statement, the incident did not affect flight operations. Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Lucknow Airport) issued a statement noting that the shipment, containing cancer medications, activated the radioactive alarm in the cargo area.
NDRF clears shipment, declares it safe
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), which was called to investigate, confirmed that the shipment was safe.
“A shipment containing medicines for cancer patients activated an alarm for radioactive material in the Cargo area of the Lucknow Airport,” the statement said.
“The National Disaster Response Force, called in to ascertain the cause of the alarm, has declared the shipment safe,” it added.
The statement further assured that there were no casualties or injuries, and airport operations continued without disruption.
