Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport, provided an update on the airport’s development, highlighting significant advancements and future plans. Speaking about the ongoing progress, Schnellmann emphasized the achievements made over the past 4.5 years.

Cargo Terminal and Multimodal Hub

Regarding the cargo terminal and multimodal cargo hub, Schnellmann reported that development work is progressing rapidly. He highlighted the partnership with Air India SATS, who are responsible for designing, constructing, and operating the facility.  “There will be a capacity for well over 1 lakh tonnes of cargo when the facility opens, and it’s designed in a modular fashion to grow with the demand”, he added.

Airport Operations and Future Plans

Schnellmann noted that the airport expects an increase in flight operations over the coming weeks and months. Calibration flights for the Instrument Landing System (ILS) are scheduled for September, followed by validation flights for approach and departure procedures in October.

He also detailed the design of the passenger terminal, which will reflect the rich architectural heritage of North India and western Uttar Pradesh. This design aims to incorporate local architectural elements, celebrating the region’s cultural heritage.

Schnellmann confirmed that the application for the aerodrome license will be submitted later this year.
