Jewar International Airport is poised to become the largest airport in Asia, with regular operations expected to commence in April, according to Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Naidu confirmed that preparations are progressing as scheduled, with validation flights successfully conducted in December.

The minister emphasised the enthusiasm of airlines, including Air India and IndiGo, to launch operations from Jewar Airport. The new airport is expected to significantly boost global connectivity, making it a key hub in the region.

Strategic Location and Infrastructure Development

Jewar Airport’s strategic position near the Noida Expressway will enhance accessibility, with ongoing efforts to further improve road connectivity. This infrastructure push aims to provide seamless transportation links for passengers and cargo.

Naidu also announced the extension of the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme for another ten years. The initiative, which aims to improve regional air connectivity, will see the addition of 100 new airports across the country, further strengthening India’s aviation network.

Kushinagar Airport to Open Soon

Responding to inquiries about the Kushinagar Airport, Naidu confirmed that work is underway to make it operational in the near future. This move aligns with the government’s broader vision of expanding aviation infrastructure and accessibility nationwide.

With Jewar International Airport on track to begin operations in April and the government’s continued push for aviation expansion, India is set to enhance its position as a global aviation hub. Improved connectivity, infrastructure investments, and airline enthusiasm mark a new chapter for air travel in the country.
