The Delhi High Court on Thursday allowed Go First’s lessors to deploy private security to protect their leased planes as well as aircraft parts.

In its interim order, the Delhi HC also directed Go First‘s RP (resolution professional) to give lessors’ access to documents detailing the maintenance activities of their leased aircraft, engines and airframes.

The RP has been directed to comply with the directions in two weeks.

The interim order came after the Delhi high court heard a plea filed by lessors which sought legal permission to carry out maintenance activities on their aircraft and engines, along with other parts.

As per the lessors, their assets are not maintained properly, and they should be given access to carry out maintenance activities. Till now, RP has been carrying out maintenance activities.

Earlier, aircraft lessors had also approached the civil aviation regulator to deregister 45 aircraft leased to Go First airlines. Subsequently, they approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) and the Delhi high court.

The NCLT had on May 10 allowed the voluntary insolvency resolution plea of Go First.

On May 22, the NCLAT upheld the order of the Delhi-based principal bench of NCLT, which had admitted the plea of Go First to initiate voluntary insolvency resolution proceedings, and appointed the IRP to suspend the company’s board. Go First has stopped flying since May 3.
