Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai continued its strong performance in November 2024, achieving remarkable growth in passenger traffic, operational efficiency, and cargo handling.

The airport reported welcoming 4.77 million passengers during the month, including 3.40 million domestic and 1.37 million international travelers. A total of 27,200 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) were managed, with November 27, 2024, marking the busiest day as 941 flights were handled.

“This strong performance was driven by growing demand for both domestic and international air travel during the festive season. CSMIA’s expanding network and focus on providing top-notch services played a key role in meeting this demand, further cementing its position as a major hub for air travel,” the airport stated on Wednesday.

Among domestic destinations, Delhi, Bangalore, and Goa were the most frequented, serving both leisure and business travelers. Internationally, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and London stood out as the most popular routes.

Cargo operations also saw significant growth, with 71,046 metric tonnes (MT) of cargo handled—18,653 MT domestic and 52,393 MT international. Key domestic cargo included consolidated shipments, engineering goods, and postal mail, while international consignments featured automobiles, pharmaceuticals, and electronics. Delhi, Bangalore, and Kolkata were the top domestic cargo destinations, while London, Frankfurt, and Dubai dominated international cargo routes.

Year-on-year, cargo operations registered an 11% growth compared to November 2023, driven by a 32% increase in automobile product shipments. CSMIA recorded 699 dedicated cargo ATMs during the month, evenly split between 349 domestic and 350 international movements.
