Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is set to inaugurate Terminal 1 of Jaipur International Airport on October 26. The terminal, with an annual capacity of 1.5 million passengers, will become fully operational for international flights starting from midnight on October 27. This marks the expansion of Jaipur airport, which will now have two terminals.
“Terminal 1 will handle international flights exclusively from October 27 midnight. The new facility will significantly boost the airport’s capacity and enhance the overall passenger experience,” said an airport official.
Passenger traffic at the airport has been growing at a rate of 7% annually. In 2023, approximately 5.4 million passengers used Terminal 2, and this number is expected to increase further. The addition of new international routes to Ayodhya, Bikaner, Abu Dhabi, and Kuala Lumpur has contributed to this growth. In September, Jaipur airport saw a record-breaking day, handling over 18,200 passengers.
From October 27 onwards, all international passengers will depart from Terminal 1, located on Tonk Road near Sanganer police station. The terminal will be staffed by around 100 security personnel, including officials from CISF and airport security. Ten immigration counters have been set up in the departure area, and 14 in the arrival area, along with 10 check-in counters.
Etihad Airways’ flight from Abu Dhabi, landing at 2:10 a.m. on October 27, will be the first to arrive at the new terminal.
