Jaipur International Airport has installed five Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) throughout the terminal to assist passengers experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

These devices, strategically placed at various locations within the terminal building, are essential for providing immediate support and restoring normal heart rhythms during cardiac emergencies, which significantly increases survival chances.

“These AED machines have been strategically placed across the terminal building. They are important aids for delivering immediate assistance to restore normal heart rhythms during sudden cardiac arrest, which increases the survival rate,” a senior airport official informed.

CPR training conducted for effective AED response

In the event of a cardiac arrest, nearby staff or passengers can use the AED while initiating cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). To ensure the effectiveness of this emergency response, an extensive CPR training session has been conducted for airport employees, duty managers, and both contractual and housekeeping staff.

The official informed that the goal of the CPR training was to equip our staff with the skills to provide immediate aid before professional medical help arrives. “This training aims to enhance workplace safety and impart valuable life-saving skills,” said the official.

Dr. Aparna Pandey, a critical care consultant who led the CPR training, emphasised that CPR is a crucial skill applicable in various settings, not just the workplace.

“At the time of crises, these machines can act as life-saviour agents. Considering the present situation, all commercial and non-commercial establishments should install these AEP in their premises, especially at public places,” Dr Pandey said.
