IndiGo has announced the introduction of a direct flight service connecting Hyderabad and Madinah, starting February 20, 2025. The service will operate three times a week, catering to pilgrims and travellers visiting the significant destination of Madinah.
Madinah holds immense importance for pilgrims undertaking Hajj and Umrah. This new route becomes IndiGo’s 38th international destination and its 128th overall, highlighting the airline’s dedication to connecting people, places, and cultures. IndiGo currently operates over 190 daily departures from Hyderabad, linking 65 domestic and 15 international destinations.
Talking about this development, Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales, IndiGo, said, “The launch of the Hyderabad-Madinah route is more than just expanding our network; it opens a vital gateway for religious and cultural exchange.
He added,”By commencing direct flights to Madinah, a major Islamic pilgrimage site, we aim to simplify travel within the region and beyond. With the launch of this flight, IndiGo will now operate over 100 weekly flights to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from India.”
Madinah is of great spiritual importance, serving as the location of the Prophet’s Mosque, Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, which contains the tomb of Prophet Muhammad. The city is a revered destination for pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah. Its tranquil ambiance and historical significance provide a deeply spiritual experience for those who visit. In addition to its religious importance, Madinah offers insight into the rich history and culture of Islam, with various historical sites and museums that highlight the city’s heritage.
