Passengers at Delhi airport staged a protest on Saturday after an IndiGo flight to Purnea was delayed yet again, triggering anger among travellers who said that the same service had already been disrupted a day earlier. The chaos took place at the boarding area after passengers of IndiGo flight6E 9076, operating on the Delhi-Purnea route, were informed about another delay shortly before departure, as per a report by the IANS.

The news agency, quoting travellers, reported that the passengers had to reschedule their plans due to the flight cancellation on Friday, only to encounter disruptions on Saturday. Some passengers alleged that while the airline initially attributed the delay to bad weather, a few were informed later that a pilot was not available to operate the flight. The uncertainty and the repeated inconvenience had led to heated exchanges and protests near the boarding counter.

Passengers allege repeat disruption; protest breaks out at boarding area

The fresh incident comes on a day IndiGo issued multiple weather-related travel advisories through its official handle on X (formerly Twitter), warning passengers of possible delays and cancellations across the network because of fog and reduced visibility.

IndiGo issues travel advisories

In two advisories posted two hours apart, IndiGo stated that the visibility at Dharamshala remained “critically low”, and some flights needed to be cancelled as poor visibility had persisted longer than forecast. The airline mentioned that it regretted the inconvenience and encouraged affected passengers to modify bookings or claim refunds through its website, adding that teams were working round-the-clock to minimise delays.

In another update, IndiGo mentioned that fog and visibility over Bhubaneswar and Indore had impacted flight schedules and appealed to the passengers to check their flight status on the website or mobile app before heading to the airport.

The airline has assured the customers that assistance was being provided across support channels and thanked travellers for their patience.

The disruptions come against the backdrop of a series of cancellations IndiGo has faced in recent weeks. The airline had earlier cancelled 118 flights on December 29, 2025 because of adverse weather and operational factors. The carrier also handled large-scale network challenges last month when stricter pilot duty rest regulations came into effect, resulting in widespread cancellations across multiple airports.
