With an eye on international expansion, IndiGo has announced the commencement of daily direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Chandigarh starting today.The strategic addition to IndiGo’s route network aims to strengthen global connectivity by offering seamless and convenient travel options between the thriving capital city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the capital of Punjab/ Haryana Chandigarh.
“We are pleased to introduce direct flights connecting Abu Dhabi and Chandigarh. This new route will provide customers with increased travel options between the UAE and North India,” Head of Global Sales, IndiGo, Vinay Malhotra mentioned.
The first flight will depart from Abu Dhabi and arrive at Chandigarh daily, with the same frequency throughout the year. This flight is effective from May 15, 2024, and will depart at 22:15, arriving at its destination at 3:30. The second flight will depart from Chandigarh and arrive at Abu Dhabi, which is effective from May 16, 2024.
With this addition, IndiGo now operates 63 weekly flights to Abu Dhabi from 9 cities in India, fostering travel, trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two nations.
Further, the introduction of these daily flights marks a significant step in enhancing IndiGo’s international reach and offering passengers unparalleled connectivity and travel experiences.
IndiGo-backed India and Malaysia connectivity
Earlier this month, IndiGo and Malaysia Airlines signed an initial pact for a codeshare partnership to boost the connectivity between the two countries.The cooperation between the two airlines will allow Malaysia Airlines to bolster its connectivity with India by serving as the marketing carrier on IndiGo-operated flights, the Indian airline said. Meanwhile, IndiGo passengers will gain access to a broader range of Southeast Asia destinations via Malaysia Airlines’ extensive network.
