India’s largest domestic carrier, IndiGo, was once again in the spotlight after Shark Tank judge Anupam Mittal took to X, formerly Twitter, expressed his discontent with the airlines, criticising it for what he views as “inhumane” treatment of its passengers.

What did Mittal say?

Mittal pointed out notable delays encountered on two distinct flights, bringing attention to problems such as inadequate air conditioning and the failure to provide ticket refunds.

In his post on X, Mittal wrote, “What happened to you IndiGo?” He added that the Mumbai-Delhi flight stood over 45 minutes on the tarmac without AC so that the airline could keep its costs down. Besides this, he also highlighted that the Mumbai-Delhi flight faced over 2-hour delay and that IndiGo would nor refund the ticket.”DGCA India this is inhumane and should be made illegal,” he further wrote.

How did IndiGo respond?

In response to Mittal’s post, IndiGo expressed their deepest apologies for the inconvenience caused by the delay of his morning flight from Mumbai, which was unintentionally delayed by 30 minutes due to unforeseen traffic congestion.

“Additionally, we regret to inform you that the delay on the Delhi-Mumbai route was a result of an unexpected medical emergency on the incoming flight. Please rest assured that we understand the importance of your time and the impact such delays can have on your travel plans,” the airline added.
