After remaining shut for about seven months, Delhi airport’s refurbished Terminal 2 will be operational from Sunday (October 26). Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Saturday inaugurated the Terminal and said the government is developing and transforming airports into world-class transit hubs at an unprecedented pace. “Handling nearly 50 per cent of the Northern region’s total passenger traffic and managing nearly 50,000 transfers every day, Delhi is emerging as a preferred transfer hub,” he said.

The renovated terminal promises a smoother, faster and more tech-driven travel experience. Originally built by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) nearly 40 years ago, Terminal 2 was closed in April this year for a full-scale revamp.

With a renewed annual capacity to handle 15 million passengers, the refurbished T2 now blends classic structure with cutting-edge technology to enhance efficiency and comfort.

Let’s take a look at the new features at Terminal 2

Passenger boarding bridges

Delhi Airport T2 now boasts six state-of-the-art passenger boarding bridges with autonomous docking technology, a first in India. Equipped with elevated ramps for wheelchair users and optimally aligned cabins, these bridges make boarding faster, smoother and more convenient for everyone.

Self-baggage drop

Say goodbye to long check-in queues! The self-baggage drop facility allows passengers to quickly check in their luggage on their own. This will make the airport experience for the commuters more seamless and time-efficient.

Virtual information desk

Navigating the terminal just got smarter. The virtual information desk provides live flight updates, guides passengers to boarding gates, highlights airport shops and services, offers chat support and even generates free Wi-Fi coupons. All this will be done from a single interactive platform.

DigiYatra at all gates

Delhi Airport T2 has fully embraced digital travel. DigiYatra will now be available across all entry points and security zones. Passengers can breeze through checkpoints simply by scanning their faces.

Wait time tracker

Like Terminal 3, T2 now features a wait time tracker that shows real-time updates for queues at entry, check-in, security and immigration. No more guesswork or long waits.

Upgraded design

The revamped terminal welcomes travellers with modern skylights that flood the space with natural light, creating an open, bright and inviting atmosphere.

Display system

Keeping everyone informed is now easier with the high-resolution Flight Information Display System (FIDS), which provides real-time updates on all flights for a hassle-free travel experience.
