Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet Fog Advisory Today LIVE: A dense blanket of fog has impacted aviation operations across Northern India on Wednesday, leading to a wave of disruptions at major hubs, including Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and Hindon Airport. It is the last day of the year and many are travelling for holidays to celebrate the new year.
However, India’s major carriers—Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet—have issued advisories as visibility deteriorated, causing delays and cancellation across the country’s flight network today morning. Dense fog continues to impact the visibility in the region.
The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) took to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a crucial passenger alert at 05.00 hrs. The authority confirmed that the airport has transitioned to CAT-III conditions, a technical protocol when visibility is low.
Delhi Airport on its official page stated, “Passenger advisory issued at 5:00 hours. Flight operations are currently being conducted under CAT III conditions because of dense fog, which may lead to delays and cancellations. Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for updated flight information.”
Air India and SpiceJet caution of network-wide impact
In response to deteriorating weather conditions, Air India has activated its specialised “FogCare” initiative to manage the crisis proactively. The airline has imposed planned cancellations for several morning flights to prevent passengers from facing uncertain wait times at terminals.
Air India mentioned on its official page, “Our FogCare initiative allows passengers booked on certain flights to receive advance alerts, offering the option to reschedule their flights without paying any additional payment or seek a full refund.”
Meanwhile, SpiceJet has also released an extensive list of cities where visibility has dropped below operational limits. The carrier noted that operations in Delhi, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Amritsar, Jammu, and several other northern hubs have been significantly affected.’
IndiGo’s operations have been hit hard, with 84 flights cancelled.
IndiGo reported that fluctuating visibility has resulted in slower ground operations as teams are giving preference to safety compliance. The airline specifically noted that “chilly winter air and lingering fog” in Delhi and Hindon have resulted in schedule changes.
Based on the airlines’ latest data for December 31, 2025, a total of 84 flights have been cancelled. The reason behind the cancellation is the combination of forecaste bad weather at Delhi and other northern airports. In some cases, operational reasons has also been cited.
Six flights were cancelled from Srinagar Airport on Wednesday due to adverse weather conditions and operational issues. According to an X post by Srinagar Airport authorities, one Indigo, three Air India, and one Air India Express flight were cancelled due to weather-related reasons, while a SpiceJet flight was cancelled for operational reasons.
"Please note that the flights stand cancelled as of now due to operational and weather-related reasons for today. Passengers are advised to kindly reconfirm their flight status with the concerned airline before travelling to the airport. Further updates will be shared as received. We regret the inconvenience caused and appreciate your cooperation," the X post said.

Dense fog and low visibility conditions have severely impacted operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday. At least 148 flights have been cancelled, and more than 150 flights are delayed. According to airport authorities, the cancellations included 78 arrivals and 70 departures, whereas two flights were also diverted.

It also added that ground staff are coordinating with all stakeholders to support travellers. Flight Status Live: Six flights cancelled at Srinagar Airport
Airport officials stated that six flights to and from Srinagar Airport in Jammu and Kashmir were canceled on Wednesday because of bad weather and problems with operations.
The disruption took place because Jammu and other parts of northern India are still covered in thick fog.
In an update shared on X, the people in charge of Srinagar Airport said that one IndiGo flight, three Air India flights, and one Air India Express flight were cancelled because of the weather. A SpiceJet flight was also cancelled because of operational problems.
