A Dubai-bound Emirates flight was delayed at Chennai International Airport on Tuesday (September 24) night after smoke was spotted coming from the tail end during refueling around 9:40 PM. The ground staff promptly notified the pilots, who shut down the engines.

Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene to manage the situation, and technical experts conducted an inspection to determine if any repairs were needed before departure.

While the exact cause of the smoke is still under investigation, sources suggest that it may have been due to heat generated by excess fuel in the tank.

A total of 320 passengers were temporarily accommodated in the airport’s waiting room as boarding was delayed. The flight eventually took off with 280 passengers after all necessary inspections were completed.
