The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday confirmed that Air India’s Boeing 787 fleet meets current safety standards, following a comprehensive review. A total of 24 wide-body aircraft underwent enhanced safety checks and were found compliant in both aircraft condition and associated maintenance systems.
“The recent surveillance conducted on Air India’s Boeing 787 fleet did not reveal any major safety concerns. The aircraft and associated maintenance systems were found to be compliant with existing safety standards,” DGCA said in a statement.
The DGCA also analysed recent operational data, focusing on the airline’s Boeing 787 operations. While no significant safety lapses were detected, the regulator did flag concerns regarding recent maintenance-related issues.
It has advised Air India to improve internal coordination among its engineering, operations and ground teams and to ensure sufficient spare parts availability.
