As dense winter fog continues to blanket Delhi and large parts of northern India, major airlines have issued travel advisories warning passengers of possible disruptions. Airlines including IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet have cautioned possible delays and cancellations at Delhi airport, especially during early morning hours.

Travellers have been advised to stay alert, check flight status before leaving for the airport, and be prepared for delays or schedule changes as weather conditions remain unpredictable.

IndiGo flags early morning disruptions due to fog

In its advisory shared on X (formerly Twitter) IndiGo said that seasonal fog across Delhi and other parts of northern India is reducing visibility and affecting flight movements. The airline warned passengers travelling during early hours that they may face delays or revised timings and urged them to check the latest updates before starting their journey.

“Early morning fog in Delhi and across parts of northern India is affecting visibility and impacting flight operations. We seek your understanding, as this is a seasonal occurrence, and flight movements are being managed accordingly to ensure safe and orderly operations,” the advisory said.

“Our teams are actively monitoring weather conditions and coordinating with air traffic authorities. Wherever possible, we are making operational adjustments to minimise inconvenience and ensure customer support remains available across all key touchpoints,” it added.

Air India warns of cascading impact across its network

Air India also cautioned passengers about the possibility of widespread delays due to dense fog forecast by the weather department. The airline noted that fog in Delhi and parts of northern and eastern India could have a cascading impact on flight schedules across its network.

“The weather department has predicted dense fog in Delhi and parts of northern and eastern India tomorrow, which may affect flight schedules, with likely cascading effects across our network,” the advisory reads.

Passengers were advised to be prepared for unexpected changes. “In the event of unexpected delays or cancellations, please rest assured that our ground staff are available round the clock to assist you and make alternative arrangements,” the advisory reads.

SpiceJet highlights impact of weather in Delhi and Dubai

SpiceJet, meanwhile, pointed to adverse weather conditions not just in Delhi but also in Dubai, warning that both poor visibility and thunderstorms could affect flight operations. The airline said that departures, arrivals and consequential flights may be impacted and urged passengers to closely monitor their flight status.

“Due to bad weather at Delhi (poor visibility) and Dubai (thunderstorm with rain), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may be affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status,” it said.
