More than 100 flights were delayed at Delhi airport on Wednesday morning due to dense fog, which resulted in low visibility. Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) handles approximately 1,300 flight movements daily.
According to FlightRadar24, Delhi Airport reported an average delay of 29 minutes for arriving flights and 55 minutes for departures as of 12 pm. As many as 320 flights have been delayed and 13 cancelled so far at IGI Airport. An official confirmed that no flight diversions have been reported so far.
“Low visibility and fog over Delhi may lead to some delays. We’re keeping a close watch on the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly,” IndiGo said in a post on X at 8:18 am.
Delhi Airport issues advisory
Delhi airport operator DIAL stated that while landings and takeoffs continue at the airport, flights not compliant with CAT III standards may experience delays. CAT III facilities allow flight operations in low visibility conditions.
According to information from Flightradar24.com, over 100 flights were delayed on Wednesday.
“Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said in a post on X at 7:35 am.
