The Delhi Airport has announced that flight operations will be suspended for over two hours daily from January 19 till January 26.

What did the Delhi Airport say?

In light of Republic Day preparations and celebrations, airspace restrictions will be enforced in the national capital from January 19 to 29.

The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital is the country’s largest airport and handles around 1,300 flights daily. As per a post on X, formerly Twitter, no flight would be arriving or departing from the Delhi airport from 10.20 am to 12.45 pm in view of the Republic Day preparations and celebrations.

The NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) . It was revised to bring in the new restrictions.

Earlier, the curbs were put in place for non-scheduled flights only, with certain exceptions.

A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) serves as vital information for individuals engaged in flight operations. Non-scheduled flights of both scheduled airlines and chartered flights are prohibited from landing or taking off between 10 am and 1:15 pm from January 19 to 25. Subsequently, from January 26 to 29, these restrictions will be in effect from 6 am to 9 pm, as specified in the earlier issued NOTAM this week.

It is important to note that IAF, BSF, Army aviation helicopter operations, and state-owned aircraft/helicopters carrying the Governor/Chief Minister of a state will remain unaffected by the NOTAM.
