Chennai airport authorities started operations at Terminal 4, aiming to provide substantial relief to domestic flyers. The trial run of Chennai airport’s Terminal 4 commenced with the inauguration of domestic flight services on Tuesday by the Airports Authority of India.

To boost airport’s passenger serving capacity

The completion of the integrated terminal building is expected to boost the airport’s passenger serving capacity from 23 Million Passengers Per Annum (MPPA) to 30 MPPA.

Chennai airport announced through its official social media post that Terminal 4, which underwent renovation alongside the commencement of T-2, is now operational. Trial operations by Air India were conducted on November 14, and regular domestic operations are scheduled to commence from November 15.

Starting November 15, all domestic operations of Air India and Alliance Air will be shifted to Terminal 4, which is now fully operational to handle domestic flight operations, as per the official statement from Chennai airport.
